Uncovering the Genetic Mechanisms Driving Embryonic Development

چکیده
Ali Shilatifard, PhD, the Robert Francis Furchgott Professor and chair of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics, was the senior author of the study that explored the activation of Hox genes in early embryonic development. A new Northwestern Medicine study, published in Genes and Development, has identified two DNA elements crucial to the activation of a set of genes that drive the early development of embryos, and which also play an important role in the development of cancer cells.

Simulation of Oil Reservoirs Driving Indices and Recovery Mechanisms
Different recovery mechanisms are activated during the production from reservoirs. Wells sometimes are kept with the injection. Therefore the evaluation of injection indices depended on material injection, seems to be necessary. This study is going to determine the drive indices for a reservoir by making a model using Eclipse. The model consists a gas cap and aquifer, in which there is an injec...
متن کاملO-27: Genome Instabilities in Preimplantation Development Leading to Genetic Variation between Tissues of Normal Human Fetuses
Background: Origin of midlife copy number variations (CNVs) between tissues in non-genetic diseases is unknown. Such genomic differences caused by post-zygotic events. They might either happen during the life or due to prevalent mosaicism in preimplantation stage. We aim to explore fetal mosaicism and its origins. Materials and Methods: Two apparently normal fetuses were achieved following the ...
متن کاملDesign and Kinematic Analysis of a 4-DOF Serial-Parallel Manipulator for a Driving Simulator
This paper presents the kinematic analysis and the development of a 4-degree-of-freedom serial-parallel mechanism for large commercial vehicle driving simulators. The degrees of freedom are selected according to the target maneuvers and the structure of human motion perception organs. Several kinematic properties of parallel part of the mechanism under study are investigated, including the inve...
متن کاملThe Dynamics of Morphogenesis in the Early Mouse Embryo.
SUMMARYOver the past two decades, our understanding of mouse development from implantation to gastrulation has grown exponentially with an upsurge of genetic, molecular, cellular, and morphogenetic information. New discoveries have exalted the role of extraembryonic tissues in orchestrating embryonic patterning and axial specification. At the same time, the identification of unexpected morphoge...
متن کاملThe Drosophila VEGF receptor homolog is expressed in hemocytes
Several signalling pathways have been defined by studies of genes originally characterised in Drosophila. However, some mammalian signalling systems have so far escaped discovery in the fly. Here, we describe the identification and characterisation of fly homologs for the mammalian vascular endothelial growth factor/platelet derived growth factor (VEGF/PDGF) and the VEGF receptor. The Drosophil...
